EGRA Sets Sign-ups Next Two Weeks

Registration for Emporia-Greensville Recreation Association basketball will be held Wednesday evening (Nov. 18) and the following two Saturdays (Nov. 21 & 28) at the GCHS Gym.

The sign-ups will be held from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday, from 9-11 a.m. Saturday Nov. 21 and 9-12 noon Saturday, Nov. 28.

Parents or guardians must sign permission forms, present birth certificates for children new to a league and pay a $35 fee at the time of registration before any child can practice or play. The fee is $45 after the sign-up period. Forms are available on the EGRA web site at www.egra.org (registration form page).

Basketball leagues are planned for participants 7-14 years of age as of Dec. 1, according to Basketball Commissioner, Martin Astrop. For more information interested persons may contact Coach Astrop at (804) 731.8366.

E.G.R.A. is the largest provider of public recreation in the area with over 1,300 players in 20 leagues with about 100 teams. It is funded by Emporia and Greensville County.
